1953 Cooper Bristol packs a punch!
The pinnacle of historic racing is represented at the Silverstone Classic Sale on 21st July courtesy of a superb 1953 Cooper Bristol Grand Prix car.
Eligible for entry into both VSCC and HGPCA events, and with current FIA papers, this is a rare opportunity to own one of the last two Cooper Bristol’s built when it is offered by Silverstone Auctions.
Much of its early racing life was spent in Australia where it was successfully campaigned by Kevin Neal and Len Lukey among others, notching up some high finishes in the Australian Grand Prix of the 1950’s.
Now adding to its appeal is the fact that it has been meticulously maintained by the current owner who has raced it both nationally and internationally for the last 18 years, winning many class awards.
Also, in 2011 its chassis and all its running components were completely restored by Hi-Tech Motorsport, as well as having its engine rebuilt.
“If there’s one car that will feel completely at home over the Silverstone Classic weekend when we are hosting our auction, then surely it’s this Cooper Bristol.
“It’s the epitome of everything that is great about historic racing, with competitive credentials to match,” said Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions.
Estimated at between £140,000 to £160,000, this John Cooper built car is supplied with numerous spares including two sets of 5½ J racing wheels and a set of 4½ J racing wheels to comply with current HGPCA requirements.
