Italian motorbike enthusiasts and lovers of classic bikes should make tracks for the Race Retro Sale hosted by Silverstone Auctions with a wide selection of models under the hammer.

Undoubtedly the star lot is a 1968 Ducati Desmo 350 Race Bike, complete with upgrades such as a dry clutch conversion and a custom simplified exhaust system.

This particular model, estimated at between £6,000 and £8,000, has been owned by the vendor for 14 years. For the first three of those it was raced successfully but then it was retired until undergoing a full restoration just two years ago. Since then it has been kept inside as a display bike and occasionally shown at motorcycle displays receiving several commendable achievements.

Also Italian and from the same decade are a freshly restored 1966 Piaggio Baby Pink Vespa 150 Super and a 1968 Piaggio Vespa 150 Sprint. Meanwhile, Italian 70’s styling is abundant in a 1973 Lambretta Li 150 Special, which has just 1,800 kms from new.

However, not to be outdone are two homegrown classics in the shape of a pair of magnificent Triumph Speed Twin’s. The 1946 model is a truly exceptional example of the marque with beautiful claret paintwork, lashings of chrome and incredible gold detailing to the tank.

Meanwhile, the 1964 example is finished in the preferred black and silver paint scheme and is presented in its almost original condition.

Looking Stateside and Harley-Davidson enthusiasts will have the chance to bid for a 1974 Ironhead Springer Custom. As expected the chrome work is certainly eye-catching and this bike also runs both kicker and electric starts, an angled forward SU carburettor with velocity stack trumpet and 2" pipes with fish tails.

For real fun on two wheels then it doesn’t get much better than the Honda Z50R Monkey Bike. A 1980 model is going on sale at the event and is offered in immaculate condition having been fully restored with original components.
