British classics from a host of UK manufacturers were among the stars of the show at this weekend’s Race Retro and Classic Car sale, which generated premium inclusive sales of more than £1.4 million. Prolific rally winning ‘Cossie’ for auction

The most successful Group N Ford Sierra Cosworth in British rallying history is to be offered for sale by Silverstone Auctions at its Race Retro and Classic Car Sale in February. Fans of two wheels were out in force at last weekend’s Race Retro Sale hosted by Silverstone Auctions. Among the motorbikes sold were a Triumph Speed Twin dating from 1946 which sold for a premium inclusive £9,570 and another from 1964 which fetched £3,300. Italian motorbikes also proved popular and models which changed hands included a 1973 Lambretta Li 150 Special for £3,960, a pink 1966 Piaggio Vespa 150 Super for £2,000 and a stylish 1968 Piaggio Vespa 150 Sprint for £2,035. Records tumbled at this weekend’s Race Retro and Classic Car Sale as Silverstone Auctions achieved a fantastic sales rate, successfully selling more than 74% of the 77 vehicle lots on offer, along with a host of automobllia items, for a premium inclusive total of £1.75 million, the highest sales total achieved in recent times at Race Retro. Italian motorbike enthusiasts and lovers of classic bikes should make tracks for the Race Retro Sale hosted by Silverstone Auctions with a wide selection of models under the hammer. Rare Maserati heads class of ‘61

A Maserati 3500GT, believed to be the only race trim model of its type in the UK, is one of three models from 1961 leading the motorsport charge at the forthcoming Race Retro Sale. Estimated at between £37,500 and £45,000, this model was rebuilt for racing in 1983 where it campaigned with FIA papers before being imported to the UK.
