Speed Twin’s are a triumph!
Fans of two wheels were out in force at last weekend’s Race Retro Sale hosted by Silverstone Auctions.
Among the motorbikes sold were a Triumph Speed Twin dating from 1946 which sold for a premium inclusive £9,570 and another from 1964 which fetched £3,300.
Italian motorbikes also proved popular and models which changed hands included a 1973 Lambretta Li 150 Special for £3,960, a pink 1966 Piaggio Vespa 150 Super for £2,000 and a stylish 1968 Piaggio Vespa 150 Sprint for £2,035.
Meanwhile, a 1974 Harley-Davidson Ironhead Springer Custom, which had a £1,000 engine rebuild in 2003, fetched £7,260.
Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions, said: “Although cars and automobilia made up most of the lots, we still had plenty to interest motorbike enthusiasts and are particularly pleased that Triumph proved so popular.”
The auction was one of the highlights at Race Retro, Europe’s premier international historic motorsport show, held at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire.
“Our next event is The Spring Sale at Silverstone and we’re already working hard to make sure we have a good selection of motorbikes up for auction,” added Nick.
Those interested in submitting an entry into The Spring Sale on 16thMay should email enquiries@silverstoneauctions.com or call 01926 691 141.
