Beetle mania at the NEC
A ‘fab four’ of a different kind are making an appearance at The Footman James Classic Motor Show when Silverstone Auctions hosts its classic car sale on 17thNovember.
Taking centre stage and hoping to hit the right notes at the auction is a quartet of classic Volkswagen Beetles, the oldest collectable being a 1952 split-window model, estimated at between £20,000 to £25,000 and the recent subject of a painstaking three year restoration in the USA.
Also from the same decade is a 1957 model in silver with blue interior and also the recipient of a lengthy restoration programme. Sporting the rare and desirable oval rear window, it is estimated at between £12,500 and £15,000.
Meanwhile, a 1970 version in striking grey has undergone a thorough rebuild and is ready to enjoy either as a show car or everyday transport. It is estimated at between £8,000 to £10,000 and is supplied with a full photo album documenting the restoration.
Last but by no means least is a 1971 model owned by just two people from the same family. Amazingly the longest single trip the car has ever done is a return trip from London to Wiltshire and its low mileage of 25,626 equates to just over 600 miles per year. It is being offered without reserve.
