A stunning 1969 Lola T70 MkIII B, estimated at between £570,000 to £650,000, is one of the first cars to be entered for the Race Retro & Classic Car Sale on 23rd February 2013 hosted by Silverstone Auctions.

As well as being a famous car with a distinguished history and interesting background, it has been completely rebuilt for European sports car racing at the highest level and comes ‘on the button’ with current FIA papers, a fresh engine, a rebuilt gearbox and a new differential.

Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions, said: “This 1969 Lola T70 MkIII B has a fascinating past and is ready to compete at the top European circuits having recently won at both Monza and Spa. Aside from its racing prowess it could also make a fantastic investment opportunity.”

Accompanying the car, which is resplendent in its race livery, is an extensive spares package.

Other early entries for the auction at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire include two Historic Grand Prix race cars from 1953 - a Connaught AL10, driven in period by legends including Roy Salvadori, estimated at between £200,000 to £250,000, and a Cooper Bristol which was one of the first cars of the famous Donington Grand Prix collection, estimated at between £140,000 to £160,000.

However, for those looking for something with a little more space then there’s also a rare and unusual 1962 Leyland Routemaster red double-decker bus, estimated at between £20,000 and £28,000.

Classic road cars will also feature strongly at the sale and Silverstone Auctions is still inviting entries from owners looking to take advantage of one of the first classic car auctions of the New Year.

Nick said: “The high calibre and breadth of vehicles already confirmed for our Race Retro & Classic Car Sale bodes well for another successful auction.

“The even better news is that we’re still inviting entries. The auction presents a fantastic chance for classic car owners, or those with competition cars and more modern supercars, plus good quality automobilia, to benefit from the expertise offered by the dedicated team at Silverstone Auctions.”

Last year’s Race Retro Sale hosted by Silverstone Auctions achieved an incredible 74 per cent sale rate with sales of £1.8m.

Those interested in submitting an entry for sale can find more information, terms and conditions, by visiting www.silverstoneauctions.com or by calling the team on 01926 691 141.
