Silverstone Auctions has a variety of sought-after motorbikes spanning some seven decades that will be offered for sale on the 17th November at The Footman James Classic Motor Show.

Among them are names that provoke fierce loyalty among collectors, including Velocette, Norton and Triumph.

“Many of the motorbikes we will be offering for auction would also be right at home in the exhibition halls and they offer bidders the chance to step back in time and own a piece of machinery from a golden era of motorcycling,” said Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions.

The oldest is a 1948 Velocette Mac, estimated at between £3,500 to £5,000, which is showing its age with pride and retains its desirable iron barrel.

From 1954 is another Velocette Mac, similarly estimated at between £3,800 to £5,000. It is a superbly presented example and rides beautifully.

Silverstone Auctions has two legendary bikes to offer from 1961 – a Triumph Bonneville T120R Replica and a Norton Dominator 650 SS.

The Triumph, estimated at between £6,400 and £8,000, is a fitting tribute to a motorcycle legend, while the Norton, estimated at between £6,000 to £8,500, has hardly been used over the last 20 years while being extremely well cared for.

Meanwhile, at a mere 50 years of age is a 1962 Triumph 5TA (Bathtub Speed Twin), estimated at between £2,700 and £3,700. It is finished in black and would make a perfect touring bike for a marque enthusiast.

More modern offerings include a 1989 Yamaha OW01 FZR750R, estimated at between £8,000 to £10,000, and a 2007 Suzuki G SX-R1000 K6, estimated at between £4,500 to £6,500.

“Demand has been strong for motorbikes we’ve offered in previous auctions and I’m sure these great examples will do likewise. They all look fantastic and will provide their lucky new owners with many happy days in the saddle,” added Nick.

The Silverstone Auctions sale is one of the highlights of the three-day motoring extravaganza and all of the lots are available for viewing on 16th and 17th.
