This years project has chosen the title of 'Play' as it's theme.

This years project has chosen the title of 'Play' as it's theme. Here is a brief description of each window installation:

Shop:Banana Republic

Architect: Ushida Findlay Architects and Visitor Studio

Description: Ushida Findlay and Visitor intend to create a fluid form that captures a frozen moment in time. The splash-like form exposes a wildlife scene as it meets the glazing. This form is to be constructed out of small plastic safari animal toys cast in clear resin, recalling childhood memories whilst capturing the theme of Banana Republic's forthcoming collection of Safari.

Shop: Ferrari

Architect: Feix & Merlin

Description: Ribbons of neon light travel across the shop front in a turbulent pattern, echoing the smoke trails created in the Ferrari wind tunnel. Playing with perception, the ribbons are blown from one shape to another, creating the outline of the iconic Formula 1 car on one side, and the classic FERRARI Gran Tourismo shape on the other.

Shop: Bose

Architect: Zero Zero Co-Mute:

Description: Responding to the challenge of visually representing a product that is essentially an exceptional experience of sound, 00's Co-Mute installation demonstrates Bose's extraordinary ability to simultaneously re-create and subtract a totally immersive audio environment in an iconic setting. It is an invitation to come in, plug in, and play.

Shop: Reiss

Architect: De Matos Ryan

Description: The aim is to create a playful and kaleidoscopic space within the depth of the window that blurs the traditional distinction between passerby and mannequin. In doing so it hopes to affect a momentary and surreal daydream, full of aspiration and reflection. The retail 'Hall of Mirrors' will also playfully present a periscopic insight to the otherwise typically concealed grade 2 listed interior and shop beyond. Participants both inside and out will find themselves caught in a perceptual conundrum.

Shop: Folli Follie

Architect: Egret West

Description: Studio Egret West's playful intervention takes form in a series of coalescing smoke rings, which suspend a variety of Folli Follie jewellery, watches and small accessories. The structure occupies the entirety of the window, artistically leading the eye towards the back of the shop. The receding and expanding rings create organic conical recesses that contain and focus our attention on the showcased objects.

Shop: TM Lewin

Architect: Liddicoat & Goldhill

Description: High Fliers: Mixing the theme of 'play' with TM Lewin's brand concept of 'performance', Liddicoat & Goldhill's London skyline plays host to a cluster of serene origami balloons. Using the shirtmaker's crisp folding and cutting techniques, fabrics in multifarious patterns & hues will be reshaped into high-flying lanterns.

Shop: Anthropologie

Architect: Gort Scott

Description: Based on the theme of play, Gort Scott are teaming up with Anthropologie to create a playful animation of their Regent Street windows. Through the geometric arrangement of simple painted sticks, a visual trick of shifting and transformed patterns will catch the attention of passers-by.

The sticks also combine to create a hedge-like structure as a backdrop for the display of mannequins.

Shop: Moss Bros

Architect: Delvendahl Martin Architects

Description: Delvendahl Martin Architects' proposal explores the possibilities of the Moss Bros shop windows by distorting the perception of depth and perspective as viewed from the street. This will be achieved by using hundreds of cotton strings to stitch the edges of the window space to form a series of seemingly floating voids, where the three main strands of Moss Bros products will be displayed. The material expression of the cotton strings will recall the raw materials of garments, the loom-based manufacturing process of cloth, and the craftsmanship of the Moss Bespoke service.

Shop: Quiksilver

Architect: Bradley van der Straeten

Description: Ride The Wave Bradley Van Der Straeten challenges the notion of the static shop front by creating an interactive installation; inviting the consumer to ride the Regent's Street Wave. The three-dimensional wave is constructed entirely from recycled water bottles and appears to project out onto Regent Street.

Annie Walker, Director of the Regent Street Association, said: "We are delighted to see such prominent retailers partnered with some of the worlds best up and coming architects. This is such a fun event and visitors and shoppers on Regent Street take great delight in seeing the unique windows installations created each year"

Fusing cutting edge architecture with unique retail design, this limited edition project creates a street wide outdoor exhibition from 16 April to 6 May 2012 that can be seen 24 hrs a day.

Tamsie Thomson, Director of RIBA's London Region, says: "'The Regent Street Windows project demonstrates that architects can use their creative ingenuity to add value to projects both large and small. Whilst shop windows might be smaller than the buildings people normally associate with architects, the creative ideas demonstrated here are just as big.

These stunning window displays demonstrate that architects are experts at solving design challenges whatever the scale."
