April sales SEK 13.1 billion 1) Skandia's sales through April amounted to SEK 51.8 billion (80.0). Reported sales are exclusive of paid-in premiums to Skandia Liv, totalling SEK 5.3 billion (4.1), and discretionary management inflows for Skandia Asset Management. Of total sales, SEK 34.1 billion (52.6) pertain to unit linked assurance, SEK 14.7 billion (24.8) to mutual fund savings products, and SEK 2.4 billion (2.2) to direct sales of funds. Worldwide new sales of unit linked assurance 2) - excluding the USA - increased by 15 per cent, compared with 11 per cent during the first quarter, due to continued strong development for unit linked assurance with annual premium. The decline in new sales, including the USA, was thereby limited to 16 per cent. In the USA, sales of variable annuities amounted to USD 1.5 billion (3.6), and sales of mutual funds totalled USD 1.0 billion (2.0). Average sales per business day in April increased in the USA by 8 per cent compared with a month earlier, due to steadily stronger inflows during the course of the month. In the UK, sales totalled GBP 1.1 billion (1.4), and in Sweden, sales by SkandiaLink totalled SEK 4.2 billion (3.9). Sales in New Markets totalled SEK 5.3 billion (6.2). Recalculated to average exchange rates, sales were favourably affected by currency movements in the amount of SEK 3.8 billion.
