New European Director Strengthens Skandia Asset Management Harald Troye, 39, was appointed Director of Skandia Asset Management Europe (SAM Europe) today. He will assume his new position on 1 March 1999. Troye will head the offices in Bergen, Stockholm and London based in Bergen. SAM Europe is a leading asset management operation in the Nordic countries, with approximately SEK 225 billion in equities under management. The new organisation represents a strong concentration in developing its management in Bergen, Stockholm and London, with separate competence centres. From this base, SAM Europe will be built up and strengthened in its role as a leading player in Europe's increasingly uniform capital markets. "Due to the steady globalization of capital markets and rising demands from our customers for competitive, professional management, our operation needs to be restructured," says Troye. "The goal is that the new operative structure will be able to generate important synergies on both the national and international levels. We will have local presence with a global perspective." Harald Troye, has a business degree from Norway and a MBA from the USA. He joined Vesta in 1986 and has served as director of finance and head of SAM Norway since 1992. "SAM's opportunity to continue generating a high return on capital will be further improved with the coordination of three European offices under the direction of Harald Troye", says Ulf Spång, Executive Vice President and CFO of Skandia, and also newly appointed head of Skandia Asset Management." Ulf Spång replaces Bo Ingemarson as head of Skandia Asset Management, who has been named President of Storebrand's and Skandia's new, combined property & casualty insurance company.
