Skandia climbs Fortune 500 list Skandia has advanced 85 places on the Fortune 500 list of the world's largest corporations. Skandia was ranked 227 in 1999, compared with 312 in 1998. Ranked by performance, in terms of the biggest increases in revenues, Skandia was No. 37. Skandia grew its revenues by slightly more than 42 per cent in 1999, to USD 19,289 million. Italy's Olivetti topped the performance list. Skandia is ranked 46 on the global list of companies with the biggest increases in profits, gaining 168 per cent to USD 418 million. The Russian company Lukoil topped this list. Ericsson was Sweden's largest company in 1999, at No. 140 in the overall global ranking. Trailing Skandia were Volvo (No. 305), and Electrolux (No. 313). Of the world's five largest corporations, four are American - General Motors, Wal-Mart, Exxon Mobil and Ford. DaimlerChrysler, domiciled in Germany, was ranked No. 5.
