Skandia's sales January-May 2000 Total sales for the period January-May 2000 amounted to SEK 95.6 billion. Sales during the month of May were SEK 17.4 billion. Sales during the first half of 1999 were SEK 62.4 billion. Sales of mutual fund savings products were lower in May than in April. This applied for the market as a whole and was due to turbulence in the world's stock markets, but above all to the close of the tax year in the UK. Sales of unit linked assurance increased, primarily in the UK and Sweden. In the USA, sales in local currency totalled USD 6.7 billion, broken down into variable annuities, USD 4.4 billion, and mutual fund savings products, USD 2.3 billion. Lars-Eric Petersson, President and CEO of Skandia, comments: "May was our second-best month ever for sales of unit linked assurance products.
