Stockholm/Örebro, Sweden - October 8, 2025 - Rebaba, the Swedish cleantech company building circular battery energy storage systems from second-life EV batteries, and Smartports, the company transforming parking areas into solar-powered mobility hubs with integrated EV charging, announce a strategic collaboration to accelerate deployment of Smartports’ solar roofs with battery storage across Sweden, France, and additional European markets. The agreement designates Rebaba as Smartports’ battery system technology provider, integrating Swedish-made circular battery systems into Smartports’ rapidly growing portfolio.

The partnership brings together Smartports’ scalable carport architecture and integrated charging with Rebaba’s circular storage technology, enabling sites to generate, store, and deliver clean power directly where it is used. The collaboration aligns with Smartports’ mission to convert existing parking areas into efficient energy hubs without new land exploitation, and with Rebaba’s focus on automotive-grade battery storage extending battery lifetimes and lowering costs and emissions through second-life systems.

This is a major technology milestone and a scale moment for both teams,” said Paula Runsten, co-founder and CEO of Rebaba. “Smartports turns under-used parking areas into productive energy assets. By adding Rebaba’s Swedish-made circular battery systems, we unlock dependable on-site power, lower total energy cost, and create a faster, cleaner path to electrified mobility for property owners and drivers across Europe.

Smartports is building a new category of on-site energy infrastructure,” said Julian Lundberg, co-founder and CEO of Smartports. “Partnering with Rebaba gives our customers a circular, future-proof storage backbone that complements our solar canopies and EV charging in a single elegant system. This strengthens our European rollout and helps cities and businesses cut costs while decarbonizing mobility.

The announcement follows Smartports’ recent financing to support international expansion and an active pipeline of projects, underlining the momentum behind solar-plus-storage carports as a fast, modular route to resilient power for retail, logistics, campuses, and public parking.

Key benefits of the collaboration
- Circular by design: Rebaba’s second-life battery systems extend the life of EV batteries and reduce embodied emissions while delivering high-quality, safe storage tailored for commercial sites.
- Built for scale: Smartports’ standardized canopy platform integrates solar, storage, and charging with hidden cabling and minimal ground impact, enabling rapid deployment on existing parking lots.
- Resilient and cost-efficient: On-site generation and storage help smooth peaks, reduce grid dependence, and enable reliable charging capacity during grid constraints.

Availability
The companies will begin with joint sites in Sweden and France before expanding to additional European countries. Property owners and developers can register interest for upcoming deployment windows via Smartports and Rebaba.

About Smartports
Smartports was founded in 2023 and is headquartered in Örebro, Sweden. The company transforms parking lots into revenue-generating energy hubs by combining solar power, EV charging, and battery storage. This creates scalable energy ecosystems that utilize existing land instead of exploiting new areas, contributing to the green transition while generating new revenue streams for property owners.
