Smartports concludes H1 2026 with 51 projects and 979 units – a record-breaking half-year
Energy technology company Smartports has concluded the first half of 2026 with 51 new projects across Sweden and France, representing a total of 979 installed Smartports units. It marks the company’s strongest six-month period since its founding and demonstrates the accelerating pace of market adoption. Customers range from golf clubs and hotels to municipal parking facilities and residential property owners, confirming that demand for integrated EV charging infrastructure is now reaching a broad range of sectors.
The growth reflects a clear market trend: property owners, municipalities, and businesses across an increasing number of segments now view charging infrastructure as an essential part of their facilities. Many are choosing Smartports’ model, which combines solar energy generation, EV charging, and battery storage without requiring the development of new land.
A common denominator across all projects is the Smartports concept of transforming existing parking areas into revenue-generating energy hubs. Rather than exploiting new land, already paved surfaces are utilized to create circular energy ecosystems that generate new revenue streams for property owners.
“This is a strong indication that the market is developing exactly as we expected. We are seeing growing demand from a wide range of customer segments, from municipalities and property owners to hotels and golf facilities. The conversation is no longer about whether EV charging infrastructure is needed, but about finding solutions that are economically sustainable and easy to implement. The fact that 51 projects have chosen Smartports during the first half of the year is a clear sign of that shift,” says Johan Gren, COO Sweden at Smartports.
Selection of new customers in H1 2026
Among the 51 projects is a broad mix of organizations and locations. Examples of new projects in Sweden include:
● Åkerberga Golf AB – 12 Smartports
● Gnosjö Långgatan & New Parking Area – 17 Smartports
● Säffle (Vallen, Ängen, Trätälja) – 34 Smartports
● Facility in Strängnäs – 8 Smartports
● Vävstolen 6, Nyköping – 10 Smartports
● Årjäng Betslet – 6 Smartports
● Facility in Älmhult – 8 Smartports
The projects in Säffle and Gnosjö illustrate how Smartports collaborates with municipal and semi-public organizations to strengthen charging infrastructure in smaller communities, a segment that has traditionally struggled to justify conventional charging solutions from an economic perspective.
About Smartports
Founded in 2023 and headquartered in Örebro, Sweden, Smartports transforms parking lots into revenue-generating energy hubs by combining solar panels, EV charging, and battery storage. This creates scalable energy ecosystems that utilize existing spaces instead of exploiting new land, contributing to the green transition while generating new revenue streams for property owners.
