Grow Forest – forestry gaming app for children
Södra is launching a gaming app for children – Grow Forest – in conjunction with Elmia Wood. In the game, the child follows the main character Banja, whose mission is to create a living and sustainable society using the forest’s resources. Banja takes care of the forest for its inhabitants and in doing so, unearths the potential of the forest in terms of games and recreation.
"We want more people to discover the joy and opportunities presented by the forest. Grow Forest is a way to welcome the next generation of forest owners and employees," said Håkan Larsson, President of the Södra Skog business area. "Public awareness of forestry and forest products is relatively low and through this game, we hope to arouse curiosity and create new insights."
The game was developed in cooperation with game developer Gro Play, which focuses on games that promote learning in such areas as sustainability.
"Gro Play and Södra have a shared belief in the power of play and gaming to involve and teach, ultimately leading to positive change in the real world," said Kristian Lundquist, President and co-founder of Gro Play.
The game is available for download to smartphones or tablets from 7 June. Staff from Södra and Gro Play will man Södra’s booth at the Elmia Wood international forestry trade fair to provide information about the gaming app.

Södra was founded in 1938 and is the largest forest-owner association in Sweden, with a membership of more than 50,000 forest owners. We engage in modern and responsible forestry, and operate state-of-the-art mills in which we process our raw material. Through value-generating relationships and a long-term approach, Södra is leading the way for the next generation of forestry.
