Adidas Sued in Product Liability Lawsuit Over AdiPure Shoes
Adidas AG is being sued in a product liability lawsuit that claims the company’s line of sneakers meant to simulate barefoot running does not deliver the fitness benefits as promised.
Joseph Rocco claims that Adidas’ adiPure shoes do not deliver increased training efficiency and decreased injury risk that the advertisements promise, according to Reuters. He says that the shoes actually increase his chances of injury because of the decreased padding compared to traditional shoes made for running. He further claims that he suffered compound fractures after using the shoes.
The product liability lawsuit states that consumers were not warned about the possible risks of the shoes. Rocco seeks to represent a class of customers who purchased the adiPure shoes since their release last August.
Vibram is another shoemaker that was sued over similar claims for its FiveFingers running shoes.
