Purina Recalls Two Jerky Dog Treat Brands

Purina, a U.S. division of Swiss consumer products giant Nestle, recalled two brands of its dog treats made in China over concerns that the chicken jerky treats might contain traces of an unapproved poultry antibiotic. Over 89,000 new Escape SUVs and Fusion sedans from the 2013 model year have been recalled by Ford Motor Co. over reports of engine fires. The Associated Press (AP) reports  that Ford said that the engines can overheat and leak fluids onto hot parts and cause fires. New Federal Safety Standards for Infant Swings

In one 12-month period, there were more than 300 infant swing-related incidents, including two deaths and more than 20 injuries. Now a new mandatory safety standard  has been approved by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to make infant swings safer. The new federal standard will require testing of stability, unintentional folding, and restraint systems, as well as a stronger label about the risk of slump-over deaths, among other changes. A nationwide class action has been initiated by two home owners against NCFI Polyurethanes and McGlaughlin Spray Foam Insulation Inc. alleging they sold toxic and defective spray polyurethane foam (SPF) insulation that can harm property and have adverse health effects. Ventlab Corp. announced a nationwide medical product recall  of 14,602 of its manual resuscitators for a defect that could lead to the threat of hypoxia (low brain oxygen) and hypoventilation (respiratory depression) in patients, which could prove fatal.
