Child Carriers Recalled Due to Fall Risk

Importer Liberty Mountain announced a recall of 400 backpack-style child carriers due to a potential fall risk they pose to young children.

The Kenta and Kenta Plus child carriers have side straps that may unravel and cause the strap to separate, which may cause the child in the carrier to fall out, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada.

The recalled products—about 300 in the U.S. and 100 in Canada—are manufactured by VAUDE Sport GmbH & Company KG, of Germany, which received two reports of the side strap separating.

No injuries have been reported.

The child carriers were sold at outdoor camping and climbing stores nationwide from January 2010 through May 2012.
