Chrysler is being sued in a wrongful death lawsuit by the parents of a 4-year-old boy who died after a vehicle made by the company exploded following a collision.

Bryan and Lindsay Walden claim that on March 6, 2012, their son’s aunt was driving him to his tennis lesson in a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee when it was struck from behind by another vehicle, according to The Post Search-Light. They claim the crash ruptured the Jeep’s fuel tank, which cased the vehicle to catch on fire due to the tank’s placement in the vehicle. They allege that the only injury their son suffered from the accident was a broken leg before the fire killed him.

In June, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that it was upgrading the pending investigation of Chrysler Jeep Cherokee, Liberty, and Grand Cherokee vehicles to cover all 5 million that were on the road, according to The Post Search-Light.
