EDIC Recalls Air Movers Due to Fire Risk

EDIC, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has issued a recall for some 53,000 air movers/blowers due to a potential fire hazard.

The product is being recalled because its internal electric capacitor can fail and overheat, posing a fire risk, according to a CPSC press release. The recall involves air movers/blowers that are used to dry floors in homes and other buildings.

The manufacturer is aware of four incidents involving fires that resulted in property damage. No injuries have been reported.

The air movers/blowers were sold to floor remediation contractors and other service professionals nationwide from January 2003 through September 2011.
