Fisker Issues Recall of Hybird Karma

Report this content

Fisker Automotive is extending a recall of its 2012 Karma, a luxury plug-in hybrid vehicle, to include 19 more cars because of possible issues with the electric car’s battery.

The car manufacturer initially recalled 50 vehicles in December 2011 because it said the hose clamps in the battery packs were improperly installed. If not corrected, this defect increases the risk of a coolant leak that could lead to a fire.

So far, Fisker says it has not received any incidents of problems that have been reported from consumers or retailers.

Another electric car that was suspected of having battery issues is the Chevrolet Volt. There have been several reports of fires involving the car.
