GE Front Load Washing Machines Recalled

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and GE jointly announced a product liability recall of almost 62,000 GE Profile Front Load Washers for posing a potential injury hazard to consumers.

The CPSC reports that there have been 19 incidents of washer baskets separating, with 10 cases of top panel breakage. No injuries have been reported so far.

The recall was issued after reports of the washer’s basket separating during use, which may be potentially dangerous and can cause injury, according to CPSC.

The recalled product, available in gold, red, and white colors with model numbers beginning with WPDH8800, WPDH8900, and WPDH8910, was sold at Best Buy, Lowe’s, Sears, The Home Depot, and other department and retail stores, from July 2008 to August 2011.

Consumers should stop using the washers and contact GE Appliances for a free repair kit.
