Graco announced a voluntary product liability recall of 86,000 Classic Wood Highchairs in the U.S. and another 3,400 in Canada after receiving reports of a fall hazard.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that the recall was initiated after 58 reports of the highchair seat loosening or detaching from the chair base. In nine of the cases, the children sitting in the chairs fell after the seat came off from the base.

Injuries suffered by the children include bruises, bumps, and scratches with one child in Canada suffering from a concussion after falling out of the highchair. CPSC advises consumers to immediately discontinue using the chairs.

The recall was announced in collaboration with the CPSC and Health Canada. The chairs were sold in three wood finishes and have a top seat, bottom leg assembly, and removable tray. The chairs also have a beige fabric seat cover with the model numbers printed on the underside of the seat assembly.

Classic Wood Highchairs are retailed at Babies R Us, Burlington Coat Factory, and other retail stores along with Target.com and Walmart.com. The chairs were sold from late 2007 to late 2010 and Graco has asked consumers to contact it for a free repair kit.
