Nautilus Issues Recall for Bowflex Dumbbells

Nautilus Inc. issued a voluntary recall for about 17,000 units of its Bowflex SelectTech 1090 Dumbbells, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The recall is being issued because the weight selector dial on the units can fail, causing the weight plates to fall when the dumbbell is lifted from its cradle, posing an injury hazard. The black steel dumbbells are sold in pairs and can have a weight capacity of 10 to 90 pounds.

Nautilus Inc. has received 16 reports of the weight selector dial failing, including three reports of injuries to the user’s foot or leg.

The products were sold at sporting goods stores, Nautilus.com and other online retailers from May 2011 through August 2011,
