Peg Perego USA Inc. issued a recall for more than 220,000 strollers because they may pose a strangulation danger to children.

The company recalled about 223,000 products, which include Venezia and Pliko-P3 strollers, because children may become trapped and strangle between the trays on them, according to the Associated Press (AP).

The company received one report of a six-month-old boy from California dying from strangulation in one of its strollers in 2004; a seven-month-old girl from New York almost died from strangulation in 2006, writes AP.

Peg Perego said that the risk of strangulation and entrapment occurs when the child is not properly harnessed into the stroller, especially in babies under a year old, according to the AP. An unharnessed child may get their head stuck in the opening between the tray and seat bottom.

The recalled products were made between January 2004 and September 2007.
