Product Liability Lawsuit Filed Over Slap Bracelets

A product liability lawsuit has been filed in Missouri over a product that was popular in the 1990s called the slap bracelet, after a child suffered an injury when its protective covering came off.

Slap bracelets are normally made of a thin, nine-inch piece of metal, that is coated and curls when it hits a person’s wrist, according to the NBC affiliate KSDK-TV.

Sophia Sylvester was playing with the bracelet when she hit her eye with an exposed metal part of the product. She has since had to have several surgeries and may experience vision problems for the remainder of her life.

The product liability lawsuit claims that the product becomes dangerous when the protective coating deteriorates, which can lead to injuries. Her family filed a complaint against Walgreens, Nova Trading and TNT Marketing.
