Product Liability Lawsuit Leads to $2.5M Award

A California jury awarded $2.5 million to a contractor in a product liability lawsuit after he was injured by a tool gun made by Hitachi.

Veteran carpenter Martin Oliver was using a Hitachi NR83A when it discharged a nail into his head, piercing his brain, and leaving him permanently disabled, according to Home Channel News.

The jury found that the nail gun was defective because it did not have a sequential trip mechanism, which would keep the gun from firing a nail unless the trigger is pulled when the gun’s nose is put to a surface.
