RAM Medical Fined $100K for Phony Surgical Mesh

RAM Medical has been slapped with a $100,000 fine for selling contaminated and counterfeit surgical hernia mesh.

The New Jersey based company was also placed on probation for three years and must pay about $73,000 in restitution, according to the Associated Press. The company purchases discounted and overstocked products from suppliers and wholesalers throughout the world to resells them to companies in the U.S.

Ram Medical must also locate and destroy all of the imported counterfeit mesh.
