Side Airbags in Various Car Models Are Being Investigated

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating an issue with side airbags in various models of cars that may fail to deploy during a car accident.

According to the Miami Herald, the problem has caused more than 2,700 vehicles from Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and Subaru to be recalled so far, and the number will likely grow if the agency finds that more automakers used similar defective parts. These cars may have an ineffective mixture of gas that could cause airbags in one side or both sides to not inflate properly during a car accident, the agency said. The safety parts that are causing the issues are made by Autoliv Inc in Sweden.

There have been no reports of injuries associated with the recalls.
