Carnival Corp. – owner of the Costa Concordia – faces a new lawsuit that alleges the vessel’s faulty design hindered the passenger evacuations on that fateful day the cruise ship capsized off Italy.

The personal injury lawsuit was filed in California court and reportedly seeks a minimum of $10 million for two unidentified plaintiffs, according to the Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel.

On the day the Costa Concordia slammed into rocks and capsized in January, more than 4,000 passengers and crew members were on board.

Several personal injury lawsuits have been filed against the cruise line claiming negligence. Many passengers were outraged at the company’s offer of $14,500 in damages to those who were physically uninjured.
