Sushi Salmonella Outbreak Toll Reaches 400

The number of people sickened by tainted sushi linked to Moon Marine USA Corp’s raw tuna product is nearing 400.

The outbreak involves two rare forms of salmonella called the Nchanga and Bareilly strains, according to MSNBC. No deaths have been reported to date.

Nakaochi Scape is the tuna product associated with the outbreak. In April, Moon Marine recalled 58,828 pounds of the product, which was sold to restaurants and grocery stores.

Although the number of cases has declined significantly since April, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more people may become affected because some stores and restaurants may not know that they are serving the recalled raw tuna.
