Wright Medical Group Inc. recently filed regulatory documents indicating that it received a subpoena from a U.S. Attorney’s office for information regarding its metal-on-metal hip replacement devices.

The subpoena seeks documents related to the company’s “Profemur” line of hip-replacement systems, according to the Wall Street Journal. Wright Medical Group issued a statement noting the subpoena is not an allegation of wrongdoing or product safety issues.

The company is still allowed to sell the devices.

The subpoena from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Tennessee requests information, records, and documentation on Profemur products and covers a period between Jan. 1, 2000, and Aug. 2, 2012.
