Bennett Opie provide freshwater well in East African village
Bennett Opie has announced that they have sponsored a second freshwater well in Uganda. Bennett Opie’s Jele Well is found in the Olio Sub County, located in Serere district in North Eastern Uganda where access to water was extremely limited.
Prior to the installation of the well, the nearest water source for this community was located 1.5km away. The Bennett Opie Well will provide clean fresh water for 160 households, and an estimated 1400 people.
Bennett Opie have worked with the Fields of Life charity and the Jele Well is the 389thwell the charity has drilled.
William Opie, Managing Director at Bennett Opie Limited said “Supporting this charity impacts on so many and has a direct improvement in their quality of life. Prior to the installation of the Bennett Opie well, the water source available to local people was exposed to many pathogens and put lives at risk of suffering from waterborne diseases. Access to freshwater is something in the Western world we take for granted which is why we are delighted to work with Fields of Life and to help them in their campaign to give the gift of freshwater in East Africa. This is the second well we have supported and hope to be able to back more initiatives in the future.”
