FCB Coffee switches to Sproud, plant-based milk with the lowest carbon emission

FCB Coffee is now proudly serving Sproud, a fast growing allergen free milk alternative that is healthy, high in protein and 1 ⁄ 5 of the carbon footprint of dairy milk.

FCB Coffee - who have 10 stores across London and the South East - serve speciality coffee that is big on sustainability, taste and sourcing the best coffee possible from small producers. With all of their shops and kiosks in stations, they are the first premium independent coffee offering in the travel sector, meaning those on the go don’t have to compromise on quality.

Sproud, started in 2018, is a dairy-alternative made from sustainable yellow split peas that are low in sugar, high in protein and omega oils, 100% vegan and don’t compromise on taste. Split peas are a regenerative crop, require less water, produce fewer greenhouse gasses than dairy cows and have a rich creamy texture perfect for coffee drinkers.

With July breaking records and becoming the hottest month ever recorded and the UN Secretary-General saying the world has entered an “era of global boiling”, FCB’s move to more sustainable milk is one that is highly necessary. By drinking Sproud instead of dairy milk you can reduce your CO2e emissions by 78%. Therefore, FCB has decided to make Sproud Barista available in all sites at no extra cost to make it easy for everyone to do their part for the environment.

Sproud Vanilla will also feature in-store throughout Autumn as a special vanilla flat white and Sproud Chocolate is used in FCB's mocha overnight oats.

The partnership is a natural fit for both brands as they take sustainability seriously and are fully committed to reducing their impact on the environment. FCB’s takeaway cups are 100% recyclable and plastic free.

Barny Clevely, Managing Director of FCB Coffee says “we are very excited to start selling Sproud and build a relationship with them as their goals and aims on sustainability match FCB’s. They have already pushed many boundaries and expanded the non-dairy alternative market massively.”

FCB is part of the 5th wave of coffee, taking specialty coffee into a new generation and has shops in busy transport hubs including Waterloo, Paddington, London Bridge and Brighton.
