Sproud announces B Corp Certification
Sproud (www.sproud.uk), the Swedish company behind a range of pea-based milk alternatives, today announces that it has achieved B Corp Certification.
Sproud has been verified by B Lab, the non-profit organization behind the B Corp movement, as having met rigorous social and environmental standards which represent its commitment to goals outside of shareholder profit. The certification is a major milestone in Sproud’s commitment to sustainability, accountability, and transparency in corporate protocols.
Sara Berger, CEO of Sproud, comments: “We are delighted to be verified by B Lab for this certification. Achieving a score of 109.4 reinforces that we see the planet as our biggest stakeholder and our commitment to being a business that is a force for good.”
Sproud is available to UK customers in Sainsbury’s, specialty coffee shops and restaurants, via Ocado, Amazon, and Sproud’s website, as well as in Joe & The Juice stores.
Sproud products are formed from yellow split-peas, which require low water use and add nutrients back into the soil — making them one of the most sustainable sources of plant-based protein. The products have a long shelf-life, which removes the need for chilled distribution and significantly reduces wastage.
Sproud measures its CO₂ impact through every stage of its production, from the fields to store shelves. Updated on CarbonCloud daily, the company’s CO₂e/kg ranges from 0.26 to 0.38, lower than all market-leading brands in the wider plant-based milk category.
In 2023, Sproud became the first food company in the EU to be verified according to ISO 26000, an international standard focusing on corporate social responsibility (CSR).
