SRV and Metsä Group reach agreement on the development phase of a fibre products factory
SRV and Metsä Group have signed an agreement to start the development phase of a new fibre products factory of approximately 20,000 square metres to be designed on the Rauma factory area. The new packaging materials production facility using wood fibres would use a completely new manufacturing method. The goal of preliminary planning during the development phase is to find out the project's investment suitability by the turn of the year. To be implemented, the project needs a separate investment decision from Metsä Group. The project will be recorded in SRV’s order back log after the construction decision is confirmed.
The development phase of the project to be implemented as a collaborative project management contract begins immediately and includes the development of the technical plans, the implementation and project plan, as well as the innovation of related solutions.
“We are looking forward to working with Metsä Group to advance the implementation of the new fibre products factory with a modern two-stage project management model. We believe that the use of collaborative implementation models in industrial construction projects will become well established in the near future,” says Tero Karislahti, SVP, Regional Units at SRV. “With a similar contract model, we have successfully implemented the multipurpose hall for Rauma Marine Constructions as well as a factory building in Vantaa for the silicon disc manufacturer Okmetic, among others. We are currently also building a Kerto LVL mill in Äänekoski for Metsä Group. It is great to continue our successful cooperation with Metsä Group."
