SRV will implement a wellbeing centre in Kirkkonummi

SRV further bolsters its position as one of Finland’s largest builders of hospitals and healthcare buildings. The municipality of Kirkkonummi chose SRV to carry out the construction contract for the largest investment in its history, a new wellbeing centre. The investment is estimated to amount to a total of EUR 44.5 million, of which SRV’s share is about EUR 32 million. The project will be recognised in SRV’s order backlog in November.

The Kirkkonummi wellbeing centre will be built on the north side of the swimming hall in Jokiniitty. The estimated completion date is summer 2022. It is intended that construction will already be started up this year. The construction project comprises the wellbeing centre building and a distribution substation for auxiliary power, with a total of around 12,500 m2 of gross floor area. The contract also includes the groundworks and yard work on the plot in the scope specified in the plans as well as a parking area in the zoned parking lot on the south side, complete with earth and surface structures and equipment.

“In the implementation of the Kirkkonummi wellbeing centre, we can harness the experience and good practices we have gained over the years in the construction of healthcare facilities and demanding specialised premises. Managing indoor air purity and moisture will play a major role in the construction of the wellbeing centre. In Kirkkonummi, we are currently also building the new main library and the Jokirinne learning centre as a lifecycle project,” says Saku Kosonen, Unit Director in charge of the project at SRV.

The wellbeing centre will replace the healthcare centre in the downtown area, which was built in the 80s and is in poor condition, as well as numerous locations in rented premises. All the services of the downtown social and healthcare centre will be moved to Jokiniitty, along with almost all basic outpatient services now provided by the other downtown locations. The wellbeing centre will serve everyone from infants to grandparents.

SRV has a strong and highly visible role as a builder of healthcare and medical care facilities around Finland. Among other projects, SRV has implemented new buildings for the front yard of the Tampere University Hospital, the New Children’s Hospital and the Kalasatama Health and Well-being Centre in Helsinki. SRV is currently building Central Finland Hospital Nova in Jyväskylä and the Bridge Hospital in Helsinki.
