SSC assumes full ownership of PrioraNet Canada

SSC is pleased to announce that it is now the full owner of PrioraNet Canada and the associated satellite ground station in Inuvik, Northern Canada.

After reaching an agreement with BlackBridge Corporation the purchase officially ends a joint venture between SSC and BlackBridge that originally was established in 2009 to build the Inuvik ground station and to market services to the Canadian market. 

In a statement the President of SSC's  Satellite Management Services division, Leif Österbo expressed satisfaction with the deal:

“Although we were pleased with the joint venture with BlackBridge for our Canadian operations, we believe this new arrangement will allow both companies to achieve our individual goals in a much more efficient way.  The Inuvik Satellite Station is an extremely important element of our global ground network services portfolio, and our full ownership of this asset will allow SSC to better serve existing and new clients in Canada and around the world.”

Mikael Stern, Senior Vice President of BlackBridge, adds:

“BlackBridge will continue focusing on remote sensing data management and data distribution. The agreement with SSC also provides a future option for us to place our own antennas on their facilities around the globe, which is a benefit for us considering the vast amount of satellite contacts we will need in the future.”

SSC is the owner and operator of PrioraNet, the largest multi-mission satellite ground station network in the world.  In addition to its Canadian operation at Inuvik, SSC also owns ground stations in Australia, Alaska, Chile, Florida, Hawaii, Sweden, Wyoming.
