Caleb Nelson, the Vice President of Business Development  at Azane Inc, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of low charge ammonia refrigeration solutions, is set to speak at the natural refrigerant event of the year. Presenting a talk on low charge NH3 technology, he will take delegates on a journey through the history of ammonia refrigeration and highlight the unique challenges faced by industry.

Presenting at the ATMOsphere America conference, Caleb Nelson will discuss the importance of safe, efficient, reliable low charge ammonia systems, and examine the benefits of the air cooled range of Azane products, including the Azanechiller and Azanefreezer. The family of pre-engineered chillers and condensing units has been exclusively developed to combat the challenges of the R22 phase out, the phase down of HFCs refrigerants and the strict regulatory requirements for ammonia systems with a charge in excess of 10,000 pounds, head on.

Stressing the importance of the new environmental landscape and how low charge ammonia technology can address the demands of end users’ unique requirements, Nelson will offer delegates a glimpse into the future of the industry with an update on recent technological developments including semi-hermetic compressors to eliminate leakage, condensers to reduce charge on air cooled chillers and reengineered system designs to reduce capital cost.

Speaking about the event and his presentation, Nelson said, “ATMOsphere America is a huge event for the natural refrigeration industry and it is an honour for Azane to be invited back to share our innovations and outlook on the future of low charge ammonia technology for the 5th consecutive year.”

“I am keen to demonstrate the business case for the uptake of the technology and will review a few case studies to highlight how the challenges with low charge ammonia have been overcome and how the flexibility of these systems has been exercised to provide value to the end-user.”

As the refrigeration industry heads towards defining the system of the future both commercially and industrially, low charge ammonia systems are fast becoming one of the stand out solutions in order to avoid future regulations against synthetic refrigerant uses.  Improving safety and reducing regulatory burden, they provide a range of benefits when replacing large ammonia systems with refrigerant charge reductions of over 95%. In addition, ammonia’s zero ozone depletion and global warming potential, as well as its improved operating efficiency of about 25% when compared to new synthetic refrigeration systems represent an opportunity for synthetic refrigerant users to switch to a future-proof solution that can provide the lowest possible Total Equivalent Warming Impact (TEWI).

Taking place on the 16 and 17 June in Chicago, Illinois, ATMOsphere America is not one to be missed for those involved in the refrigeration industry. This year is set to be the biggest and best yet with 350 delegates expected over the two days. Providing attendees with an unique opportunity to network and share views with leading end users, suppliers, contractors, and government representatives, Azane are sponsoring the event which also provides a pivotal learning opportunity for delegates. This year, in order to keep the up to date with new developments, the event will also boast some exciting new features, such as additional site visites and training sessions in the run up to, and after the event.
