Ammonia is an excellent refrigerant with a wide operating range, excellent thermodynamic properties and low cost
Government research shows the future heating demand will be mostly met by heatpumps.
Without question, low charge patent-free ammonia systems are the future of industrial refrigeration
Star delivered an energy efficient system that ensures plant reliability and future proofs the business
We are delighted to share with the industry the experiences and knowledge gained from our continuous research and extensive work on industrial refrigeration and heat pumps using ammonia and CO2.
The Expo is one of the highlights in the cold chain calendar. Bringing together an abundance of experts within the sector, it provides a unique learning and networking opportunity for all involved.
ATMOsphere America is a huge event for the natural refrigeration industry and it is an honour for Azane to be invited back to share our innovations and outlook on the future of low charge ammonia technology for the 5th consecutive year.”
The benefits East Kilbride ice rink is set to receive from the upgrade to the new Azanechiller 2.0 include cost savings of £13,000 a year in electrical bills in comparison with other ‘best in class’ ammonia chillers, as well as carbon savings of 1,204 tons of CO2 over 20 years. When compared to their previous R22 plant, savings in the region of £30,000 will be expected.
East Kilbride ice rink’s state of the art Azanechiller 2.0 has a Seasonal Energy Performance Ratio (SEPR) of 4.32, which is 71% higher than the EU EcoDesign Directive requirement.
The Azanechiller 2.0 sets a new benchmark in chiller performance with efficiency figures that are significantly higher than the European EcoDesign Directive requirement.
although heat networks are not a new idea, they have traditionally been seen as a very “un-British” way of delivering domestic heating. The realisation that our carbon reduction targets cannot be met without some drastic changes to the way we live our lives has changed all that.”
We’re really excited about this new development and will be showcasing the Azanechiller 2.0’s new features. By opening up our doors to allow customers to see the new system and witness the chillers in operation firsthand, we aim to demonstrate the benefits of investing in technology that provides first-rate efficiency.
Many people believe that renewable energy is solely for modern buildings. However our newly developed product demonstrates this is most certainly not the case.
The technology has a good role to play as a source of renewable, affordable heating within an urban setting and it contributes to a clean air environment in any area where it is deployed.
By working with our partners, we are able to produce a state-of-the-art solution which will deliver real benefits for our tenants. GHA has only worked with small, individual heatpumps which we found to be unsuccessful. However, this is a different beast.
As far as we’re concerned, low charge ammonia is the refrigerant of the future. By sharing Star’s innovations, opinions and predictions at high profile events such as the ICCC, we hope to advocate for the technology and continue to pioneer for worldwide adoption of cleaner, greener and safer industrial cooling solutions.
The US R22 phaseout, along with proposed restrictions on some HFC refrigerants, is leading to a growing demand for natural refrigerant solutions such as the Azanechiller and Azanefreezer. 2016 is going to be a big year for Azane, with high profile installations already in the pipeline for customers across the USA.
I’m honored to step up as Azane’s new VP-Business Development, and am looking forward to fronting the company as it transforms the face of America’s industrial refrigeration chiller and freezer market.
Extensive modelling and real-life testing have demonstrated that the high temperature air source heatpump can deliver effective and affordable heating to existing social housing with the result of a 53% drop in carbon footprint – dropping even further as the grid decarbonises.
The IOR members have voted Star Refrigeration's paper the best presentation of the year from amongst seven potential candidates. Not only was it a very interesting and relevant topic but it was a very professional and clear paper that will be of value to many in the future as part of the IOR proceedings.
This is an essential guide for the safe design and operation of ammonia refrigeration systems. It is, at the very least, the most comprehensive publication on ammonia refrigeration design safety available today.
“Decarbonising heating is actually comparatively easy to decarbonising electricity”
“ASHRAE is pleased to honor Andy Pearson with the grade of Fellow. “It is through contributions such as his, including his work on innovative industrial systems using natural refrigerants, that allows our Society to fulfill its mission of advancing the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration to serve humanity and promote a sustainable world.
Andy’s appointment is very welcome. Having worked for Star Refrigeration for many years, his experience in executive and non-executive positions, as well as his in-depth knowledge of the sector, both in the UK and internationally are invaluable for Star to continue to realise its full potential in this new age of environmentally driven technology
