History:

It has been 50 years since the first Stena Line ferry departed from Stenpiren in Gothenburg to Skagen in Denmark. 50 years later, Stena Line has become one of the world’s largest ferry companies. The company grew rapidly and was soon transporting traffic between Sweden and Denmark, Germany and Norway. In 1982 Dan Sten Olsson, the son of Stena Line's founder became Stena Line's new Group CEO. The company continued to expand and in 1989, Stena Line acquired the Dutch company SMZ, which operated the Harwich-Hook of Holland route, and the company became established on the North Sea.
