To celebrate the 120th anniversary of the Harwich - Hook of Holland ferry route, Stena Line has launched a special ‘Go Dutch’ campaign, offering UK travellers two-for-one savings on all crossings on its North Sea route this June.

Car drivers will be able to enjoy prices as low as £99 return for two people travelling in one vehicle, saving £40, whilst motorcyclists can bring a passenger and pay a total of only £69 for a return ticket instead of £XX.

The offer must be booked between 28 May and 15 June 2013 and is available to passengers travelling by car, motorcycle, motorhome and caravan for travel between 1 June and 30 June 2013.

2013 marks the 120th anniversary of the North Sea route, following the historic launch of a passenger ferry service aboard The Chelmsford (complete with comfortable cabin space) in 1893, which was used by rail passengers to travel from Essex to Rotterdam and often on to Germany.

Lars Olsson, travel general manager for Stena Line’s North Sea route, commented: “Ferry travel has been instrumental in fostering tourism, trade and good relations between the UK and the Netherlands, and we are delighted to offer our passengers in the East of England such a strong offer to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the North Sea route. We also have some great ‘Go Dutch’ offers onboard, including two-for-one on our specially created ‘Dutch Courage’ and ‘British Grit’ cocktails.”

In comparison to the cramped and pungent conditions of early ferry travel, nowadays Stena Line Superferry passengers enjoy hotel-like facilities, including Swedish-designed Dux beds in the cabins, an à-la-carte restaurant and free Wi-Fi throughout the ferry, as well as excellent facilities for children, including an onboard cinema, children’s play area and even a basketball court.
