Welcome onboard 30 of the world’s most spectacular ships when Gothenburg will host the North Sea Tall Ships Regatta on September 3-6, 2016. Stena Line and Stena Bulk are the main partners of this international sailing event when it arrives in our home town.
North Sea Tall Ships Regatta Gothenburg 2016 takes place on September 3-6, 2016, and welcomes some of the world’s most spectacular ships, from modern sailing ships to 300 feet long full-rigged vessels. Stena Line and Stena Bulk hosts this international sailing event in cooperation with the City of Gothenburg.
“When an event like Tall Ships Regatta, connected to the ocean, comes to our home town it´s a privilege to be involved and support it. One of the organizers main purposes is to develop and educate young people through the sail experience and maybe some of these young sailors one day even might end up working for us on board the Stena vessels somewhere around the world”, says Erik Hånell, President & CEO Stena Bulk and Carl-Johan Hagman, Head of Shipping & Ferries at Stena and CEO for Stena Line.
The Tall Ship sailings have been organised since 1956 with the purpose to enhance meetings between young people from different countries and social backgrounds. A majority of the 1 000 on board crew members are young trainees. The ships will reach Gothenburg after a week-long race from Blyth (UK) and will be ready to welcome the public on board in an event arena in Frihamnen, Gothenburg. Besides the ships, the event area, open for everyone with free admission, includes a lot of activities, entertainment and food for all tastes and ages. Stena Line will host an area to show the visitors our offerings and how we constribute to a sustainable future in Gothenburg and Europe.
