Stena Line extends Northern Ireland operation Stena Line has today announced that it is extending its Northern Ireland operation by offering sailings from one additional port in Northern Ireland to Scotland. From September 2000 Stena Line will operate its two conventional ferries (Stena Galloway and Stena Caledonia) from Larne to Stranraer in addition to the existing Stena HSS fast craft service between Belfast and Stranraer. The move will boost capacity on the conventional ships by 20% through increased frequency and shorter crossing times. "The announcement is significant, especially in relation to the ever- increasing level of freight and tourist traffic in the region" says Bo Severed, CEO of Stena Line. He continues, "We will be able to offer a choice of two ports in Northern Ireland and with the increased frequency and better utilisation of capacity both our passenger and freight customers will enjoy a higher level of service.
