Stena Line Propeller Prize 2020 open for nominations
Nominations are open for the Stena Line Propeller Prize 2020. Two young growth companies within the areas Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Maritime technology wins 100 000 SEK each. The prize is announced on May 7 in Karlskrona, Sweden during Innovation Day 20.
Stena Line Propeller Prize is an entrepreneur prize awarded by Stena Line annually since 2015 to young companies in the ICT and maritime technology arena from countries around the Baltic Sea. The two winners will be announced at May 7 at the annual event Innovation Day at Blekinge Institute of Technology in Karlskrona, arranged by Blue Science Park.
“Stena Line believes in the Baltic region. This year we celebrate our 25th anniversary in on the Karlskrona-Gdynia route but we also operate several routes from Latvia, Germany and Scandinavia. To strengthen the region further, we need more innovative companies and partnerships across the borders and therefore we welcome applicants from all countries in the Baltic Sea area this year, says Erik Lewenhaupt, Head of Sustainability, Brand & Communication at Stena Line.
First international winner in 2019
In 2019 for the first time a winner outside of Sweden was awarded the prize. Gdynia based Searis Technologies won the category maritime technology. All Binary in Karlskrona was awarded the ICT-prize.
– The initiative for an international Innovation Day started last year. For of the 2020 event, we are expanding our focus around the Baltic Sea and now also welcomes applicants in the Stena Line Propeller Prize from all over the Baltic, says Magnus Forsbrand, CEO at Blue Science Park.

Stena Line Propeller Prize is an entrepreneur prize granted annually to young businesses in the ICT and Maritime Technology arena. Two young growth companies win 100 000 SEK each. The prize is named after the Latin word propellare; "driving force" which naturally comes to mind. The Stena Line Propeller Prize awards companies who use technology to become more sustainable and that fits well with Stena Lines vision “Connecting Europe for a Sustainable Future”.
