When transitioning to the new production line, MPP 2019, several improvements have been implemented to increase efficiency, quality and save resources. These projects have been very successful. Water consumtion at Svenska Aerogel plant in Gävle has been reduced by 75% and parts of the raw material usage have been reduced by 30%. This translates to increased productivity and reduces the environmental footprint.

Svenska Aerogel's new production line MPP 2019 has been launched and extensive tests are now underway to ensure quality and function. This investment will enable Svenska Aerogel to deliver larger volumes and negotiations with global manufacturing industries are under way. In parallel to the investments in the plant Svenska Aerogel has been conducting several improvements with good results.

“We can increase efficiency and at the same time protect the environment. This is also what we offer customers when they integrate Quartzene into their solutions. We apply sustainability throughout the whole supply chain.Kalle Gustafsson, Process Engineer Svenska Aerogel

“A successful improvement is a valuable investment and we make sure to meet the environmental and legal requirements of today and prepare us for those to come. To achieve sustainable development, we must use resources in a sensible way for future generations.” Nestor Wallberg, Production Manager.

To produce Quartzene, large quantities of water have been required in several parts of the process. An innovative solution where the water now is circulated in a closed system has reduced usage with 75% compared to the original plant design. The result is increased productivity as parts of the process have been streamlined.

The consumption of some raw materials included in Quartzene has decreased by 30% thanks to a methodical work on optimizing the recipes. Quartzene includes Silica, water and energy, and neither the product itself nor the production has any negative environmental impact. The salt content in production wastewater has now been significantly reduced.
