Ethiopian Airlines is now redirecting its operation into Scandinavia and will start servicing Stockholm non-stop from Addis Ababa on route to Oslo, operating a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Ethiopian Airlines is today operating a service between Addis Ababa and Stockholm Arlanda via continental Europe. The new non-stop route will benefit the passengers as the journey to Stockholm Arlanda will be smoother and one hour shorter.

The combination of sun and safari attracts many Swedes to Africa, with places such as Zanzibar, the Seychelles and South Africa among the 54 destinations included in Ethiopian Airlines’ service in Africa. The new route also facilitates business exchanges through better access for both Swedish and African companies. There are also many people in Sweden who have family and friends in Africa who Ethiopian Airlines can attract with its adjusted timetables, generous baggage rules and competitive prices.

“We are pleased that Ethiopian Airlines has chosen to make Stockholm Arlanda its direct destination in Scandinavia. The traffic to Africa via Addis Ababa from Stockholm has grown sharply over the past three years, by a total of as much as 130 per cent. More than half of the passengers on this route are Swedish leisure travellers, who will now have a smoother journey to African destinations with just one stopover,” says Elizabeth Axtelius, Director of Aviation Business at Swedavia.

Ethiopian Airlines will operate Addis Ababa–Stockholm–Oslo four days a week beginning March 26, 2017. Starting on May 29, service will increase to five weekly departures. Flying time between Addis Ababa and Stockholm Arlanda is 7.5 hours. Ethiopian Airlines is a member of Star Alliance, and the Aircraft is an ultra-modern Boeing 787 Dreamliner configurered with 270 seats.
