Nätverket för Hållbart Näringsliv appoints Liza Jonson, the CEO of Swedbank Robur, as the winner of the Sustainable Leadership Award 2023. The motivation emphasizes her dedication to lead the way towards a more positive and sustainable future, for her own organization, as well as for competitors and the society.

“I am delighted to receive this award and immensely proud of the strong commitment demonstrated by everyone at Swedbank Robur. I share this recognition with my great colleagues at Swedbank Robur, who, like me, firmly believe that sustainability will create financial return in the long run. As the largest mutual fund company in Sweden, we aspire to lead the way and although we have come far, there is always more to be done, sustainability is not a project with an end date”, says Liza Jonson, CEO of Swedbank Robur.

The Sustainable Leadership Award was presented on the 17th of October 2023, during the Sustainability Day. Nätverket för Hållbart Näringsliv has presented the award since 1999, with the aim of recognizing a business leader who has contributed to successful sustainability efforts within their organization or in society at large.

Liza Jonson was one of three finalists, all of whom have demonstrated forward-thinking leadership where sustainability and business are intertwined. The two other finalists were Henrik Nilsson, CEO and founder of Inrego, and Lotta Giesenfeld Boman, CEO and owner of Sigtunahöjden Hotel & Conference.

“I am happy to give this year’s Sustainable Leadership Award to Liza Jonson, who is a passionate, committed, and brave leader. She has a unique ability to inspire co-workers and others to increase sustainable investment and integrate sustainability as a natural part of business”, says Erik Lindroth, Chair of Nätverket för Hållbart Näringsliv.

Part of the jury’s motivation:

”With 2000 billion SEK in assets under management, Liza Jonson as CEO of Swedbank Robur, holds a key position in Sweden’s, the Nordic countries’ and the global sustainable transition. By clearly taking a leader role in sustainable investments, she shows the path leading forward, not only for her own organization but also for competitors and the society. Liza Jonson manages to navigate and set the course outlined in Swedbank Robur’s vision: ”To become a world leader in sustainable value creation”. This contains both ambitious climate objectives in line with the 2015 Paris Agreement and a commitment to achieve climate neutrality by 2040. Liza Jonson is described as someone who acknowledges her own weaknesses, elevates, and include the strengths of others, enable individual growth and actively promotes diversity. Liza is thereby a much worthy winner of the Sustainable Leadership Award for 2023.”
