Swedbank and the savings banks expand their mobile payment offering

Swedbank and the savings banks have previously offer customers with a Swedbank debit card the opportunity to connect to several mobile payment solutions such as Samsung Pay, FitBit Pay, Garmin Pay and Swedbank's own mobile payment solution Swedbank wallet. Now the mobile wallet offer in Sweden has been expanded with two more services - Google Pay and Fidesmo Pay.

“We want to be able to offer our customers a good range of different digital and mobile services. Google Pay is a good example of a payment service that many of our customers want to make use of. This gives our customers yet another opportunity to a safe and mobile payment alternative,” says Lotta Lovén, Head of Digital Banking at Swedbank.

Almost 5000 of the bank's Swedish customers have so far connected to the Google Pay service. More bank debit cards, including bank cards Maestro, will be added for Google Pay moving forward.

Fidesmo offers a mobile "tap-and-pay" payment service in the form of functional accessories. Through the collaboration with Fidesmo, Swedbank's and the savings banks' private customers can use their debit card to connect to the Fidesmo service and then pay in a store using watches and watch bands that support Fidesmo Pay. The watches and accessories are sold both online and in store by i.e. the retail chain Ur & Penn and the TRIWA brand.
