Interactive brochures use technology intuitive to tablets
Traveling on the train the other day I watched as someone sat opposite me was referring to their iPad and then typing information into their laptop, they didn’t seem to be enjoying the experience. Obviously I was very curious, as I’m always interested in knowing how people use their tablet devices in their day-to-day business. What I saw was a PDF brochure on their iPad showing a number of surgical type products. The images were small and the copy difficult to read. The poor chap had to lean ever closer to his iPad to read the copy, he could zoom but still needed to lean into it. It was a typical case of a print based product catalogue being forced into use on a digital device without making any use of the digital technology. I asked him what he did, as I saw he was packing up, and he told me he was a sales rep for a medical company supplying surgical tools to hospitals. I asked him about how he was getting on with his iPad as a tool and he said something quite surprising. “I am not sure how to use it yet really”. I suggested that maybe it was the content he was finding difficult as an iPad is basically a touch screen with one button. He saw my point immediately and asked why I was asking. I showed him one of our interactive brochures to give him an idea of how content can be used to provide a much more useful and engaging experience.
